UK wedding catering trends 2023
Restaurant Associates reveals new data shows a definitive shift in style and substance at UK weddings post-Covid. Now...
Based in Northumberland, Mad Hattie works closely with clients to create perfect hats and fascinators. Owner Norma Arthur shares her expert advice when it comes to the industry and will help with any budget concerns.
Norma says: "If it can fit with your budget, embrace what may be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to have an extraordinary milliner-made creation for your special event. It will make you both look and feel special, with the added benefit of there being no risk of having the same hat as any of the guests. While off-the-peg styles are often in single colourways, by having a headpiece made by a milliner, you can have any combination of colours. If your budget doesn't run to a commissioned piece, a milliner creation can be achieved by using a plain and reasonably-priced hat or fascinator which can be trimmed to match the colours of your outfit.
"One of my customers Ruth Skinner, wasn't a hat-wearer and didn't have a large budget. For her basic black hat, I created a feather pom to pull out the black, dusky pink and beige in her dress, and then highlighted with a stronger pink." Ruth's says: "Wonderful personal service from Norma, not just customising my hat, but helping with my whole outfit."
