Webster's Ropery is a unique 18th-century Grade II listed wedding venue that was once the world's largest rope house. Set on the bank of the River Wear, it has a large outside space with seating and exceptional views over the river. Sensitively decorated and tastefully restored, it retains the building's original beams, exposed brickwork and stonework, along with its brass handrails and open fireplace.
Say your vows in the Queen View Suite, licensed to hold civil ceremonies and accommodating 120 guests. The room has natural daylight with lovely views overlooking the river and surrounding areas, with a cream carpet creating an aisle down the room along with Chiavari chairs for the guests to be seated in. The Banqueting Suite is the perfect room for a wedding breakfast reception, holding up to 100 guests. The Webster's Bar also leads straight out on to the grounds outside, complete with private bar facilities, quirky furniture and an open fireplace.
